Medicinal Plant Biotechnology for unemployed Rural people


Medicinal Plant Biotechnology Lab-to-Land programme, a translational project for rural people of West Bengal, has been initiated from the Plant Biotechnology Group of the Department of Botany our college under the leadership of Dr. Biswajit Ghosh since April 2017. The purpose of this outreach programme is basically for the welfare of the unemployed rural people. The target is skill development of rural SC, ST & OBC youths by proper awareness and hands-on- training, both in the field and in Plant Biotechnology laboratory in our College for the employment opportunity or self-employment, which improves their socio-economic condition.

At present Dr. Biswajit Ghosh and his team are working in 11 villages covering three districts of West Bengal namely, North 24-Parganas, Murshidabad and Nadia including remote Samsernagar of Sundarbans area of India-Bangladesh border.
